Job Summary:
The Desktop Support Technician's role is to support and maintain organizational computer systems, desktops, and peripherals. That includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all organizational hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance. The person will also troubleshoot problem areas (in person or by telephone) in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user assistance where required.

Essential Functions:
  • Support development and implementation of new computer projects and new hardware installations
  • Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future hardware and organizational hardware needs.
  • Conduct research on, and make recommendations for, hardware products in support of procurement and development efforts.
  • Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex desktop problems for end users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions,
  • Collaborate with Technology team members to ensure efficient operation of the organization's desktop computing environment
  • Where required, administer and resolve issues with associated end-user workstation network software products.
  • If necessary, liaise with third-party support and PC equipment vendors.
  • Receive and respond to incoming calls and/or Jira / QC Tickets regarding desktop / equipment problems.

COS Specific Responsibilities
  • Continuous monitoring of internal equipment responsible for the creation/ processing/ handling of client work
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment responsible for job processing
  • Maintain and update backup systems for job processing, database administration and both on-site and offsite equipment replication. (Datto)
  • Become proficient in supporting the following software /hardware systems:
    • HP DFE for HP Roll Fed Presses
    • Canon DFE for IX 3200
    • Fiery DFE for Canon toner-based products
    • EFI PACE MIS
    • Impostrip
    • XJet Software
    • Matchmate Software
    • Standard Horizon DFE
    • BCC Postal Software
  • Manage third party camera systems including user admin and monitoring storage
  • Maintain internal Quality Control systems (Web system for 40 devices)
  • Maintain and work with software support on the following internal systems:
    • Digital Job Submission
    • Equipment Scans
    • Scan Verification
    • Open Jobs
    • Recoveries
    • Inventory

Education Required:
  • Associated Degree required. Computer science focus is preferred.
  • BA/BS degree in computer Science is preferred.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), or similar are a plus.
  • At least 2-3 years of direct job-related experience required.

Knowledge & Experience:
  • Good problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Knowledge of computer software, operating systems, hardware and networking
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of PC internal components.
  • Able to work in a team as well as independently
  • Working technical knowledge of current protocols, operating systems, and standards
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.

Physical Demands
  • Must be able to sit at a desk 80 percent of the time.
  • Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Must be able to operate a computer and other office products (i.e., a computer printer).
  • Must be able to lift no more than 25 pounds.
